The Danish Agency Injecting Stripped-Back Élan In The Chaotic Modern Condition
Icons of Denmark, the brand agency showcasing some of the best Danish designers both established and up-and-coming, has been representing the best in Danish furniture in London since its creation in 2009, and is a prominent feature of this year’s Designjunction to which they have brought a prize selection from their 2016 collection.
The agency brings together a closely-curated collection of creatives with a distinctly refined bent, focusing on striking a balance between simple aesthetics, traditional methods, natural materials, and sleek and innovative approaches. This import of the classic Danish ethos – conscientious, functional, minimal, and stylish – has paid off, earning them showcases at some of 2015/16’s most celebrated office projects from Saatchi & Saatchi to BMW.
Their 2016 collection has been inspired by London’s fusion of people and space, something they have witnessed during their recent years in the city; noting the increasing osmotic relationship between home- and office-space, Icons of Denmark owner Jesper Jensen characterises his designers as ones who “help to blend that distinction by offering both comfort and luxury”, offering a cleanliness and light-weight salve to an increasingly chaotic modern lifestyle.
