The Charm of the Hinterland

Discover the Lure of Germany’s Rural Regions and Man-made Landscapes

Photographer and geographer, Kilian Schoenberger is fascinated by the rural regions in the periphery of Germany, known there as Hinterland. This is very understandable, as travelling through the countryside he is met with a spellbinding collision of wilderness and cultivated nature.

Although he is colour-blind, this has not hindered Kilian’s ability to capture the motifs and patterns of landscapes. The German photographer, who resides in Cologne and Batavia, is forever travelling. His photographing destination interests span the earth, including places like Norway, the Alps, New Zealand, Canada and Siberia.
