Minimalist Series of Vintage Machines and Game-Like Worlds by Amsterdam Illustrator

‘Honestly, creating realistic images doesn’t excite me at all,’ Amsterdam based designer and animator, Michiel van den Berg told us. After playing around and creating a few images in a much more minimalistic style, Michiel found that what he was creating, indeed already had a niche following on the internet, termed “low-poly”.

What is low-ploy you ask? ‘At its core, low poly, or low polygon means a small amount of polygons resulting in hard edges as opposed to smooth edges or surfaces,’ Michiel explained to us.

‘Although I have, and still use the term low poly when promoting my work, I prefer to see it as a form of minimalism I’m trying to develop and integrate into my overall style, whether it is 3D, vector work or traditional drawing.’
