Soft Candy-Like Colours to Comfort and Remind of the Fleetingness of Life

Taiwan based artist, Sydney Sie, describes her project, The Nothingness of Amelie, as being akin to ‘lying on an extremely soft bed, which is like lying in the clouds.’ The surreal photographs, which are combined with digital art, feature women in awkward poses and with obscured faces, draped in and set against a background of pastel blue.

In a similar vein to her previous work, these pieces make ample use of gradient color, and optical illusion, providing an atmosphere of femininity that is both comfortable, and eerie. This series centers on the idea that all things, regardless of how lovely or sweet, will eventually dissolve into nothingness.
