HomePhotographyCuts: Franck Bohbot From Spanish Harlem to South Village, Manhattan, Presenting the Diversity of New York Barbershops Since winning awards for previous projects, such as ‘Chinatown’ (2014), and ‘Swimming Pool’ (2013), Franck Bohbot has more than asserted himself as a photographic explorer of situational environments. He has explored areas such as cinemas, theatres, hotels and basketball courts. Now, with his latest series, Cuts, Franck gives us a glimpse inside several different barbershops around his home city, New York. With the positioning of the Barbers, all stood in the middle of their shops, a cinematic atmosphere is created, amplified by his trademark use of colour and composition. Franck used no additional lighting in the shoots, apart from the existing lights in the shop, adding to the authentic feel of the images.
