HomeMusicWorlds: Porter Robinson Checking Out The Worlds Created in Dance Producer’s London Gig Currently on the European leg of his tour for album Worlds, The Plus had the fantastic opportunity to experience dance music prodigy, Porter Robinson, live in action. At his gig in KOKO Camden, London, we were treated to an overload of visual and auditory delights, ram-packed with animé-style animations, a creative display of lights, dedicated fans, and of course, his brand of uber-sweet, melodic electronic dance music. ‘It was really important to me that it feels like a concert, not a party or a rave or whatever,’ Porter told VIBE magazine. ‘I’m playing chords and lead melodies and singing, running multi tracks, triggering samples, playing drum pads, and so on.’ From the age of 12, Porter admits to being obsessed with the game Dance Dance Revolution, where he learnt the importance of timing, execution, meter and rhythm. With his current album, a feeling of nostalgia rushes over fans of a similar age to the artist, as they are carried by the music, to the fantasy worlds of their computer games.
