Summer Music and Fashion Tips From The Fiery Singer-Songwriter

From performing at Coachella, Lollapolooza and Osheaga, to writing music for a new Broadway play, Kate Nash is having an incredibly busy summer in America. She is currently collaborating with Tony Award-wining choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler on the play, Only Gold, which will also feature music from her first three albums.

‘It’s a story about a maharajah in Paris in the twenties,’ Kate told us. ‘It’s about making the choice between love and superficial things. -It’s very exciting!’

Taking a break from her packed schedule, Kate offered us some music and fashion tips for the summer:

The Plus: Your favourite solo artist this summer?
Kate Nash:
I’m loving M.I.A. at the moment – she’s incredible. Also, Grimes and Charli XCX.

TP: The band can’t you stop listening to right now?
KN:
Stockholm’s Vulkano!

TP: The artist from America we might not know about, though we really ought to?
KN:
Jeff Ellis! I’m co-producing his new record.

TP: A piece of clothing you cannot do without this season?
KN:
Anything colourful and floaty – to match my new pink locks. I’m really liking sheer kimono-sleeved tops at the moment.

TP: Please describe the perfect festival outfit.
KN:
Start with the sunglasses and work down and don’t wear anything restrictive, as you’ll want to be dancing around. Wear lots of colour. Festivals are fun and your outfit should reflect that.

TP: A timeless piece of clothing every girl should have?
KN:
A perfect dress – the one you can pull out of your wardrobe and rely on no matter what.
